HERS Ratings - for Energy Star Certification of new homes

The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index is the industry standard by which a new home's energy efficiency is measured. It’s also the nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a new home's energy performance.

Home Energy SCORE Energy Audit - for existing homes

Using the Home Energy Scoring Tool, developed by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the Assessor scores the home on a scale of 1 to 10. A score of 10 indicates that the home has excellent energy performance. A score of 1 indicates the home needs extensive energy improvements.

The Home Energy Score is similar to a vehicle's miles-per-gallon rating. It helps homeowners and home buyers understand how much energy a home is expected to use and provides suggestions for improving its energy efficiency. It also allows homeowners to compare the energy performance of their homes to other homes nationwide.

REScheck - for new construction homes, additions and remodels

The REScheck  makes it fast and easy for builders, designers, and contractors to determine whether new homes, additions, and alterations meet the requirements of the IECC or a number of state energy codes. REScheck also simplifies compliance determinations for building officials, plan checkers, and inspectors by allowing them to quickly determine if a low-rise residence meets the code.

IC3 International Code Compliance Calculator - for new construction homes in Texas

The International Code Compliance Calculator (IC3) software is a simple performance based, software tool for verifying and demonstrating that the annual performance of proposed new residences in Texas (of three stories or less) is in compliance with the Texas Building Energy Performance Standards (TBEPS).

The tool also identifies cost-effective upgrade opportunities and helps you gain insight into the energy efficiency potential of your building.

COMcheck
